A Personal Message From the Creators of atHome Wall Murals

Headline: Creative Engineer Meets Beautiful Artist, Both Love Home Decorating

Is it me or does this headline seem far fetched? A creative engineer who likes to home decorate meeting a beautiful artist who also loves to home decorate?? This sounds too much like a leading appliance manufacturers commercial advertisement where a Nanotechnology Researcher runs into the dark haired model and they fall in love. (In case you're wondering, I do know a thing or two about nanotechnology. I guess it is the nerd in me!) The final scene of the commercial shows their cute, but obviously predestined to be a nerd child, blinking at us as they program their high tech appliances. The companies pitch is "The Perfect Marriage of Style and Innovation".

I suppose if this company's advertisers can dream up such an ad, than it is possible. In fact, it is a fair approximation of our story with some minor differences. I am in fact an engineer by training, but not in practice. My wife is not a model (although she could be), but an artist. Like a model's beauty, her artistic ability is a gift. When we met it was clear that we shared a common interest in art and home decor.

Prior to meeting my wife, my interest and talent in home decor and interest in art found numerous opportunities to be expressed. My job took me to a handful of new locations during that time. From the earliest move, I made the decision that I would make each apartment or house a home. A place where I could find rest and relaxation. I succeeded at each new location in creating a home. I also succeeded in convincing a number of people that my home could not have been decorated by me. My artistic tastes where too rich for a bachelor and too many floral patterns found their way into my home. Many girl friends actually said, "So, you had your mother decorate for you?" And my guy friends, well they overlooked my decorating interests by concentrating on my more "manly" characteristics. Ugh, the world I live in!!

To my amazement, I finally found a woman who was not intimidated by my tastes, in fact shared them and could also add a great deal to our home. This became one of the many things that attracted me to Joy. The bonus was she is a skilled artist and muralist. Lord have mercy, I believe I've received a gift from heaven!

This site is a result of these common interests and talents. We both feel strongly that we can share our experiences with home decorating and help promote wall murals as a wonderful addition to anyone's home decor. We also feel strongly about creating a true home thru your home decor. I also feel that I am able to utilize my understanding of technology and personal networking to build a resource for our global audience on home decorating with wall murals. In this small way, Joy and I are fulfilling the appliance maker's slogan, "The Perfect Marriage of Style and Innovation".
