An Art Style You Love, An Aspect of Selecting the Correct Wall Decor
What style of art do you love? Are you a fan of impressionistic paintings of Claude Monet or do you lean more towards the realism of G. Harvey? Molly has a theme, but is unsure of the style of artwork she likes. Should she go with a realistic style, or would an impressionistic style fit her tastes better? Molly needs to take some time and gain some appreciation for the different styles of artwork. Why don't you take the steps she is taking to find out what art styles you really love.
A great way to gain appreciation for different styles of art is to walk thru your local galleries or browse online galleries such as the one's we have provided to the left. As you walk thru the galleries, make note of the styles you find most pleasing. At this stage do NOT worry about price, simply find the styles you love. You may also wish to look thru your home decorating magazines and online artists’ portfolios to see more examples. After compiling a list of styles you like, break it down to only the styles that you really, really like. Forget about anything that after a second look doesn’t still wow you. By doing this, you will fulfill one of the most important rules regarding art shopping:
Always purchase or commission art that you love and will enjoy viewing for years!
This rule holds true, unless you don’t mind the piece ending up in the attic after a few years. Remember that your eyes will be viewing the artwork daily and you want the piece to create positive emotional responses. That will help to make your house a home.
After visiting several galleries, Molly found that she was more of a fan of the impressionistic style and decided on a vineyard scene for her bathroom. More importantly, Molly gained a deeper appreciation for the different styles of art and found a wonderful new hobby, exploring galleries both online and in her local community. Molly was not quite ready to make her final decision regarding her bathroom. She still had two more things to consider, including the following question.
What is the scope of my mural or wall decor project?
